Lucknow: In a major drive to maintain public order and ensure safety, the Lucknow Police conducted a special campaign against public drinking and hooliganism across the city, leading to action against hundreds of violators.
The campaign was carried out under the direction of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, with active supervision from senior officials and coordinated efforts by Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and station house officers across all zones.
Conducted between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on April 13, the campaign targeted individuals consuming alcohol in public places, engaging in disorderly conduct, or causing inconvenience to commuters and especially women in crowded areas.
According to official data, police teams checked a total of 106 locations across the city and screened 2,339 individuals. During the operation, 411 people were found consuming alcohol in public places and were challaned under relevant legal provisions. All violators were also issued strict warnings against repeating such behaviour.
The campaign covered key public areas including roads, parks, markets, bus stands, intersections, and other crowded spots such as Gopalpurwa, Paper Mill Road, Ring Road, Moti Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Kalli Paschimi, Jagatkheda Mod, Salem Pur, 60 Feet Road, Engineering Chauraha, Mirzaganj Chauraha, Tiwari Ganj, Geetapuri Market, Khargapur Chauraha, and Husadiya.
Zone-wise Action Summary:

- Northern Zone: 20 locations checked, 383 individuals screened, 114 challaned
- Southern Zone: 22 locations, 506 individuals, 51 challaned
- Eastern Zone: 23 locations, 663 individuals, 86 challaned
- Western Zone: 23 locations, 539 individuals, 115 challaned
- Central Zone: 18 locations, 248 individuals, 45 challaned
Police teams were deployed extensively across all zones, ensuring strict enforcement of law and order.
Issuing a strong message, Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar stated that the campaign was launched in response to public complaints and would continue in the future. He emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found disturbing public peace.
He also directed liquor shop owners to ensure that crowds do not gather outside their establishments, which often leads to inconvenience and potential law and order issues.
Reiterating the force’s commitment, the Commissioner urged citizens to follow the law and avoid any activities that disrupt public harmony, stating that Lucknow Police remains dedicated to maintaining a safe, peaceful, and disciplined environment across the city.
